In May Brigham Young University holds its annual Women's Conference. My sister Rachel started attending the conference with her So Cal friends a few years ago and they would stay with me in my home in Utah. I never really attended the full conference until I moved to San Diego. I had to actually leave all of my responsibilities behind and let Chad play Mr. Mom for a few days. This is the 2nd year that we camped out at our Condo not far from the University. We share the Condo with Mom and Dad Clifford so Chad has a place to stay when he travels to Utah for work. Just imagine 11 women in a 3 bedroom Condo. We all love being together so much that we just made it work.
This was the first year that I participated in the 'Instant Choir'. I had always wanted to sing with the Choir but practice begins at 6:30 a.m. and considering the hour we get to bed I was worried I wouldn't be able to stay awake the rest of the day. It's hard to stay awake in class when you have a belly full of mint brownies. We sang 'This is the Christ' (o
ne of my favorite songs) and 'Come Unto Christ', a song written especially for Women's Conference. Thank you Erin for talking me into singing. It was one of the highlights of the conference. Sheri Dew was the speaker in that session and President Monson was the closing speaker. It was an amazing conference and I got
to share it with an amazing group of women.
We always seem to manage to fit in a little shopping the day before the conference. It's great being able to actually try on clothes without Andrew escaping from underneath the dressing room door. He always heads stra
ight for the escalator.
My sister Rachel invited me to "Blogapalooza, an event planned by her girlfriends from the Bay area. Basically it is a group of Mormon Women that met through blogging. It was held on the BYU campus after the first day of the conference. A book was assembled with biographies of all the girls in attendance. I felt like a Blogapa~Loser because under my name all it said was, 'No Blog'. Well Neener Neener I am a blogger now. It was just the push I needed to get my blog up and running. Just wait till next year. I will have a biography with a cute picture of me and my family in that book. I am a goal setter.
Rachel and I left the conference earlier than the rest of our group because our brother Augie was getting married. I came home feeling spiritually uplifted and ready to apply all of the wonderful things I learned at Women's Conference. Can't wait till next year!
