The Divas did it again. Another wonderful performance by Kate and Emily in one of my favorite musicals "Hairspray." They sang ~The Nicest Kids in Town, Cooties and You Can't Stop the Beat. They delivered their lines with Star Quality. In fact, Chad was stopped by a talent scout last week who saw the girls and asked if they would come out for a
screen test. True Story!
Their theatre instructor, Elisha (shout out to you girlfriend) is amazing with those kids. The girls have really enjoyed their class and they especially love to perform at the end of each session. They like wearing stage makeup. I put glitter on their face and they looked so glamorous.
I had a little problem with their hair though. They slept in sponge curlers and I tried talking them in to wearing them to school. All of the kids were encouraged to do that. Kate refused so I took her curlers out without brushing her hair. I thought surely those tight ringlets would stay in till the performance. Emily on the other hand decided to keep the curlers in her hair all day. But as soon I arrived at the school's drop of zone she changed her mind. She wouldn't get out of the car. You can not just stop in the drop off lane and take out 20 sponge curlers without causing a little road rage from the parents in line behind you. Do you know how long it takes to circle back around the school? Luckily, as I drove out of the school a car was pulling out of the parking lot and I pulled a "No No" and swooped right in. I managed to pull those curlers out in record time and Emily was off to class.
You can only guess what happened next. Talk about Drama! When I picked them up from school both girls had completely straight hair. How was I going to make Bouffant hair dos from the 60's? I plugged in the curling iron put a few curls in their hair and barely had enough time to throw their costumes on and get them to the theatre for dress rehearsal. And that is why I threw away the card Chad handed me from the talent scout. I am already a crazy "Stage Mom."
Well everything turned out great and the girls did a fabulous job. Andrew even stayed seated (o.k.~in the vicinity) during the performance. He screamed when he saw his sisters on stage.
I'm so proud of my little Divas!

Doing theatre was my favorite thing growing up! Encourage them to do it forever!!
Haha!! This story reminds me of Mr. Mom where he's dropping the kids off at school and the other parents yell at him, "North to drop off, moron!" So funny!
You'd never know they didn't have curlers in their hair all day! They look so cute. I gotta have my girls do something like this!
