Let's Go Girls

Last weekend I was invited to a Girl's Getaway at the beautiful La Quinta Resort in Palm Springs. We Moms needed a little R&R after getting the kiddos ready to go Back to School.
On our drive there we stopped for a quick potty break at a Mexican restaurant in the middle of nowhere. As it turns out our "Potty Break" turned into a "Party Break" (a phrase coined by our friend Allison). Upon leaving I happened to spot a Karaoke machine and a stage. I think I have a built in radar. "It's Karaoke Night! Please girls can I just sing one song?" Well, all of us ended up singing and having so much fun.
Since there seemed to be sort of a country theme going on my sister Rachel and I chose a Shania Twain song, "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" (Hence the post song). Then our group of girls sang "American Pie". Wow, that is a long song. We asked everyone to sing along at the chorus.
We were announced as the Orange Girls. Everyone had worn orange by chance and so my sister insisted I change. The funny thing is, I originally had the orange shirt out to wear and changed my mind last minute.
What a fun bunch of locals. One little old man sang a romantic song to his wife and later asked her to dance during another song. Warms my heart. Most locals just brought there own C.D.s in to sing. Who knew that Thursday Night was Karaoke night at the "Casa Cantina?"
That was just the beginning of the trip. We met up with the rest of our girlfriends at the resort. We had just missed Gwen Stephanie and her family who had checked out of the resort earlier that day. But, We did get to see Run (from Run DMC) hanging out at the pool. Love to star gaze.
We enjoyed dining out, shopping, the movies (two in a row), sleeping in, relaxing by the pool, spa treatments and of course a lot of "Girl Talk".By the end of the weekend I felt rejuvenated and ready to relieve Chad of his Mr. Mom duties. Thanks Honey for allowing me to get away for some girl time.
