What "Goes Bump in the Night?"

The answer to that question is My Kitchen Cabinets. Although, it was more like a loud booming crash at 5 a.m. this morning. I have never heard of cabinets falling off of a wall. I was telling my sister about the incident and she insisted I blog about it. Chad took some photos for all of the obvious reasons. I lost two sets of Dinnerware and two sets of glasses and all of my hot chocolate mugs. Those cabinets were stuffed full.
Our counter tops and tile floor were scratched. Chad and I are just grateful there were no children standing underneath the cabinets at that time. Kate woke up and ran downstairs shortly after we did. She said she thought someone was trying to break into our house, again. Emily pulled out a glue stick and tried to glue a handle back on a mug.
It looks like someone at the cabinet company
forgot to reinforce one of the corners with a screw. Want the name of the company? Our home is new and we have only been in it for a year so were hoping that D.R. Horton will take care of the damage. They have a Rep coming out tomorrow morning.
It is just so absurd!

Survey the damage for yourself

Oh MY!!! Definitely something the builder should take care of. I bet your heart was pounding so hard...at least Chad was home this time!

I saw you working out too! It was VERY apparent that I hadn't worked out in a while. I was DYING!!! Back in the saddle.

OH WOW. That's all I can say. It also looks like the wall it was attached to was not a very strong wall, or there was no stud to give it enough strength. SCARY!!! I'm glad that everyone was okay!

oops... I mean the cabinet backing. Even more chintzy!

Wow! I cannot believe that. It was a good thing that nobody was underneath there. I am so sorry about all of your dishes. That stinks.

Ho-ly scarey wake-up call! I hate things that go bump in the night, especially when it is actually a crash. Happy dish shopping!

That is crazy! It's either waking up to crashing dishes or evacuate for fire! Why does it always have to happen in the wee a.m. hours? Of course, probably better for the cabinet so that no one was there to get hurt. Have fun dish shopping!

Um yeaaaaah, I think the company will be covering this one! The pictures put it in perspective - it looks like it was LOUD! Glad no one got hurt. Xo.

Michelle...I have never heard of that happening. I can't wait for Ken to come home so I can show him. It is shocking! I'm so, so sorry..that would be very scary! And I'm so glad no one was hurt. I'm sorry about your dishes...but I agree with your sister...time to go shopping! Ken was our GC and I'm always waiting for something like that to happen...I mean he is a marketing guy that built a house!
