A Spooktacular Halloween 08

We Began the Halloween festivities with my sister's annual Big Kid's only costume party. Chad found our costumes weeks in advance and we were both so excited thinking that we would be the life of the party dressed as the Spartan Cheerleaders from SNL. We even practiced a cheer at home that included me doing the splits and ending with a cool stunt. I am not joking.
So when the party finally arrived we were all fired up to burst open the door and perform the "R.O.W.D.I.E" cheer that we had been practicing.
But Nooooooo! Guess what the first two people that we saw were dressed as? That's right.... Spartan Cheerleaders. They totally stole our thunder. Neither of us wanted to perform our cheer anymore and we just kind of moped in.
It ended up bei
ng fun having two other members to add to our Spartan Squad. I insisted on being the head cheerleader of course.
The party was a blast. Everyone had such great costumes and I got to sing Karaoke.
The next day was a busy Saturday. The girls both had soccer games in the morning. In the afternoon we attended a kids costume party planned by one of Emily's friends and that evening we went to the annual "Trunk or Treat" held in our church parking lot. Everyone really got into decorating their trunks this year. Andrew refused to wear his Lion costume but the girls looked so cute as a Cheetah and Leopard.
Halloween happened to fall on a Friday this year. Perfect time for a class party. I have the privilege of being Emily's Home Room Mom. So of course I had to throw a fun class party. We had a photo booth, refreshment area, Halloween Twister, Mummy Musical Chairs, Spooky Story Telling and two Halloween crafts. The kids were not allowed to wear their costumes to school. BOO to that. But they did get to wear their Pajamas. So I wore my P.J.'s too.
That evening we had a Pizza Party at our house and invited the cousins and friends. I was planning on staying home to hand out candy but I was talked into joining everyone to go Trick or Treating. We left a HUGE bucket of candy on our porch because my girlfriend assured me that she does that every year and she always comes home to left over candy. Needless to say we got cleaned out!
Andrew wore his fireman's costume for one minute before he took it off and ended up going trick or treating in his P.J.'s. He had a sweet ride though. Chad took him around, ever so cautiously, on our scooter. It was a beautiful evening with 76 degree weather.
There is an interesting tradition going on in our neighborhood. The adul
ts carry their wine glasses with them from door to door. After the kids collect their candy the adults have their glasses filled with wine. Maybe it was a good thing I didn't stay home. I had nothing to offer them. Bottled water?

We had so much fun visiting with our friends and neighbors. I didn't want to go home. I just love Halloween!

More Halloween Fun!

We totally noticed the adults walking around with their glasses of alcohol! Too funny! I didn't know they were trick or treating for it! Only in California!
